What is the MMFPA?

The Minnesota Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Association (MMFPA) is a statewide non-profit organization established in 1993.  The purpose of the Association is to provide support, networking and information to people and organizations working in the field of mortgage foreclosure prevention. In addition, the MMFPA promotes sound policies and practices related to foreclosure prevention counseling, both in the public and private sectors.

The MMFPA has developed the comprehensive Foreclosure Prevention Specialist Series training program, which is offered on an annual basis.  During this intensive training, participants receive instruction from attorneys, lender representatives and other housing industry professional on such topics as loss mitigation, bankruptcy, negotiation and counseling techniques.

To receive the designation of Foreclosure Prevention Specialist, individuals must attend the entire Series and pass a final exam.  Registration for individual portions of the Series is also available.
In addition to the Specialist Series, MMFPA sponsors quarterly training seminars on a variety of foreclosure prevention topics.  These trainings provide timely and accurate information, as well as tools for use by foreclosure prevention professionals that allow them to serve the best interest of homeowners and reduce losses to stakeholders. Some even qualify for Continuing Education Units.
